The Conman Of The Heart Poem by Pieter van Wyk

The Conman Of The Heart

Rating: 5.0

Who are you to judge
Who are you to hold a grudge
Against something you don't know
It hurts - the stones you throw

You are merciless
Your killings are endless
Your words are like a deadly venom
You build your own sad little kingdom

There were times that you were good
But then I realise - so is food
Both are good until you get too much
Death comes with just one deadly touch

Your heart is like winter - cold
I have been warned, I have been told
In you I wanted to see the good
But you were dark and dressed in a hood

Now my eyes have seen the truth
You have stolen my youth
You drained me of my life
You promised me - I was safe

I will no longer listen to your lies
Your soulless and deadly cries
I'll turn my back and walk away
It changes all forever - today
