The Dark Side Poem by Barry Middleton

The Dark Side

Rating: 5.0

on the dark side of the planet
a hungry child is crying
a soldier falls in war
a young girl is enslaved

on the dark side of the planet
mindless bombs rain down
blood runs in the street
old women wail

on the dark side of the planet
a murder is avenged
a man takes what he wants
a poet stands alone

on the dark side of the planet
the gods have turned away
the poisoned waters flow
the forest is aflame

on the dark side of the planet
endless grief survives
avarice consumes
hollow tears are shed

An excellent write from your mighty pen. Kudos. In simple words you say a lot. Your voice is really powerful, the world must hear. A super 10.

Very vivid and true poem, Barry. Nicely expressed. Such a beautiful planet and yet so full of darkness.

Thanks. I guess we must be thankful that it is not 100% dark.
