The Debate Poem by Samanyan Lakshminarayanan

The Debate

Rating: 5.0

It was the period when 'non-cooperation ' of-
Gandhi was at its helm.
Tagore differed with Gandhi.
Tagore felt 'non-cooperation' was a negative force.
Human beings flourished only in 'cooperation'
Tagore felt.

Tagore had a debate on this subject in his school
One team spoke for 'non cooperation'
the other spoke against 'non cooperation'
Tagore himself was the judge
The round of argument was over and-
The students were asked to vote to-
Choose the winners.
The vote was in favour of ' non cooperation'
Gandhi had won the vote.

Tagore who was the judge came on stage and-
announced that he was the winner.
Even in his presence his students had-
given their independent opinion.
'That is my victory' he said
