The Dream? Poem by Marilyn Shepperson

The Dream?

I stood upon the bridge and looked
Into the running water
Could I do it, could I jump
I walked away trembling

I stood upon the platform
As the train came rumbling in
Could I do it, could I jump
I walked away trembling

I stood upon the cliff edge
And stared out at the sea
Could I do it, could I jump
I walked away trembling

I stood within the quiet room
A bottle of poison in my hand
Then I rembered you had left
I had already taken my own life
