The Eagle's Choice Poem by Emily Howard

The Eagle's Choice

Rating: 5.0

The eagle provides for his chick.
All day and night, as constant as the clock's tick.
The hog, likewise, doesn't rest until all are fed,
and sound asleep in the big warthog bed.

But when all is done,
What do we do for our fun?
Do we linger in the sky,
as close to heaven as we can get?
For this is what the eagle does, he flies.

Or do we roll in the mud,
Waiting for filth to flood
All feeling of dignity and grace?
Do we surround
With things we have found
take away all importance that was traced?

Do we fly above all,
Giving out a strong call?
Or do we lie in the lowest of places?
Do we cover ourselves in dirt and filth,
So that no one will recognize our faces?

Be the eagle,
Strong, wise and clean.
Do what needs to be done,
But fly in the heavens in between
