The Emo Proposal Poem by Terry Moore

The Emo Proposal

Rating: 4.0

My shallow and hating heart burns again
You want me to act with you as if we were friends
I only know of one unconditional love
I hold everything to force myself not to shove

This playing of my heart has aged me well
Cheeks flushed and my hatred swells
I am to love someone else for life
Even though I want to see your face when I die

We joked about marriage when it's too far off
I only wish I were back in that spot
I don't want to look back at what could've been
When you told me that we should be friends

There is just too many times in the world
When a guy devotes his heart to one girl
Tells her that he loves her, and means it
Then they break up because she's scared of commitment

There are guys who are genuine and true
Don't stereotype us as jerks, when the jerk is you
I only push back when I feel the hurt
Please don't take it the wrong way, my love's unstirred

I'd give you my life, this dismal life
All I ask for is love, time, and a knife
A knife to quench this love I have so far
Either to kill me now, or to die in your loving arms.
