The Face Of Reality Poem by Blessings Mutukwa

The Face Of Reality

a dreaded facade
highlighted by everted eyes
dawns from the shadows
like a livid sunrise
its nose like two sewer conduits
harbouring in them rotten mucus.
a hollow cave is its mouth,
whose teeth are like crooked stalagmites and stalactites.
The skin compares to dusty gravel
garbed in bumps and slumps
like a potholed Harare road
and its hair alike ungroomed pubic hair,
lice infested and discoloured.
