The Fate Of Ophelia! Poem by Denis Martindale

The Fate Of Ophelia!

Romantic rejections feel cold, and then the heart goes numb!
Your love may be as good as gold, but toxic love's so dumb.
If your heart's strength gets steelier, then that proves good enough,
Far better than Ophelia and her sad, toxic love.

The spirit droops that sought the sun, the promised passion falls,
You tried so hard to please someone, but needed miracles.
Romance starts well with compliments, a touch of flirting, too!
A sudden shift from planned events, for kisses meant for you!

But toxic love knows what to say, to press your buttons, girl,
It's just another game to play, as if you're their whole world!
For toxic love's a malcontent, a fragile thing at best.
Arriving fast! But once it went, no sweetheart's feeling blessed.

Its silver tongue is slippery, like shifting sands no more,
Each thing you say, it will agree, your whole heart to secure.
Then come the lies, white lies at first, so secrets stay intact!
You're double-crossed and feeling cursed! How then will you react?

The dreary darkness undermines the remnant of your love,
Until pure innocence that shines like sunlight from above.
You let love go, you let love die, you stare until it's gone,
And then, forlorn, on beds you lie, no joy to carry on.

Then comes a stranger as a friend, with words of comfort shared,
A friend who stays to comprehend the reasons you despaired.
That's when each sorrow can get drained, that's when you must be brave,
That's when the hurts remain restrained and chained to keep you safe.

Reject your fate for what it was! Take time to celebrate!
Beyond what's happened, and because you thrive through love, not hate!
Let toxic love depart from you! Abandon memories!
Let true love do what it must do - fulfilling you with peace!

Here's a love poem by the Poemhunter poet Denis Martindale.

The title of the new poem is 'The Fate of Ophelia'.

My new poem is written based on the beautiful Taylor Swift and her extravagant eye-candy music video. Google search explains the fate of Ophelia as she is drowning in her sorrows because of toxic love. People can be a blessing or a curse! Sometimes it takes time to learn the truth, especially during the times we fall in love.

They say that love believes everything. It's as if nobody would lie to you, no, not to you. But remember that time is a great healer, once we learn to move on. And what better way is there than beautiful people singing beautiful songs, dancing amid a stage full of dancers? That's why the song and dance era of Busby Berkeley musicals and the Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers romance films helped America rise from the Great Depression so many decades ago. Don't you like watching upbeat films, TV shows and YouTube shorts? I do! Yes, absolutely, positively! I love 'em!
