The Fire Within Poem by Mario, Lucien, Rene Odekerken

The Fire Within

It does not flicker,
nor waver in the wind.
It is not fed by air or oil,
nor does it wait for kindling.

It smolders in silence,
burns through doubt and time,
a heat that does not beg
for hands to warm against it.

It is the breath before the leap,
the pulse before the strike.
It is hunger that does not wane,
a light unseen but felt.

Not all will notice,
not all will understand.
But it moves, it grows,
and does not go out.
