The Forgotten Veterans Of Wars Poem by Hebert Logerie

The Forgotten Veterans Of Wars

Our sweat and blood are buried in this fertile soil
In these states of the United States of America
Our forefathers battled in the siege of Savannah
We are the children of the Forgotten Heroes
Look at the shade of our skin and at the shape of our toes
We are the descendants of those they couldn't foil
Our blood is stained with wit, pride, and courage
Our ancestors left everything on the battlefields every time
Defied death and fought like braves amid the carnage
Under many banners and countless flags in their prime
Our ancestors are the forgotten veterans of war.

We are the children of the brave Buffalo Soldiers
We are the descendants of the Tuskegee Bombardiers
We are the true patriots, we are the Formidable Fighters
We take no prisoners, and yes, we are the Bombers
Our sweat and blood are sprayed on the battlegrounds
There is no need to question our loyalties and backgrounds
Our fathers have fought nonstop and have won countless rounds
Still, they remain the forgotten veterans of war
Old deadly enemies have become new friends
And yet, post bellum, we still need helping hands
To survive, because somebody had raised the bar
We are the children of many battles and countless wars
Our hearts are still pounding and we carry the scars
Of yesteryears. Our pulses are beating like tam-tam drums
Their blood and sweat are swimming and dancing in our veins
We are the children of the ones who planted flags and hardy mums
We are the descendants of the ones who defied death and pains.
