The Future In The Eyes Of A Boy Poem by Anela Mrubata

The Future In The Eyes Of A Boy

Rating: 5.0

It's the firing line-
I have to decide; which way shall i go?
I'm tired- i try-
It's no option to die; my boots heavily drenched in snow
It's the firing line-
i fight for my life; which way shall i go?
No reason to why-
But i'm staying alive; the wind gets stronger as it blows

I hear the pistols
And the dreadful missles; they bring darkness to the skies
I hear the children-
the dying children; havoc, screams and cries
I hear the soldiers-
the fighting soldiers; they choose who lives and dies
We seek huge boulders-
to protect the older; they are weak and terrified

It gets hard as i breathe-
I 'wake from this dream; it's the future that i have seen!
My people shall bleed-
lay dead on our streets; that's the future that i have seen
Engaging in wars-
youth breaking the law; is it the future that i see?
A life we can't adorn-
days which death will be born; is it the future that i see?

Let's start changing our ways-
and live for better days; that's the future i bring forth
Let's start changing our ways-
there's nothing more to say; that's the future i bring forth.
