The Golden Vessel Poem by Reva Kern

The Golden Vessel

It was a grand vessel cut in heavy gold
Its masts touched the blue on unexplored seas
The Cyprine of love, disheveled hair, naked flesh
Displayed in the fiery sun

But one night it struck a great reef
In the deceptive ocean where the Siren sang
And a horrible wave tipped its hull
Sending it to the depths of the abyss,
A permanent coffin

It was a Vessel of Gold
Where the diaphanous side
Revealed treasures that
Coarse sailors fought over -
Disgust, Hate and Neurosis

What remains of it in the brief storm?
What became of my heart, the deserted ship?
Alas! It sank into the abyss of a Dream!
