The Good Old Days - Poem by Terry Mar

I remember in the past
elders talked of the good old days
How things were very different
things were done in certain ways

I was young, and thought then
these are old stories, mean nothing to me
But now that I have grown older
the stories meaning are clear to see

Some stories are about
a special time and place
Some stories of laughter
or a single tear on ones face

Some stories are about
a past love, still so strong
Some stories of friends
or memories of a special song

Some stories are about
a time filled with fright
Some stories of a kiss
a special moonlit night

Now as I look at a child
and I wonder in a gaze
What kind of stories will be
his or her Good Old Days

It seems the older we become, the more we think back to the old days. I think many of us can relate to this Terry. Well done. (Report) Reply

A beautiful thought and poem, much of our day is often taken up with memories, how wonderful if children could gather good ones now, (Report) Reply
