The Good Swallow Poem by Ima Ryma

The Good Swallow

Rating: 4.0

The Happy Prince had lived a life
Where only happiness he knew.
He had known no sadness from strife.
Upon his death his knowledge grew,
As from his statue he could see
The sadness that his people had
Suffering from great poverty.
The spirit of the Prince was sad.
And so the Prince with swallow's aid
Gave all the Prince's riches for
The poor, and thus passage was paid
For a royal trip to heaven's door.

The swallow truly deserved such,
But Prince to heaven, not so much.
