The Great Lake. Poem by Michael Walker

The Great Lake.

Rating: 5.0

Taupo, tourist town,
is on the north of the lake:
Turangi is south.
I looked over the smooth waters,
driving, this blue morning.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Lake Taupo is New Zealand's biggest and best-known lake, and it has a number of small, tourist towns dotted around the shores. Taupo itself is much bigger than these.
Most of New Zealand's other large lakes are in the South Island.
I noticed that in the souvenir shops, Lake Taupo was advertised as 'The Great Lake'.

Thanks for your insightful comment on a short poetic form, which challenges the writer to the limit. Thanks for noticing.

Moving in tourist tow beside lake gives view of landscape beauty and this entirely motivates mind. Blue morning shines with tender waves. This tanka is really very brilliant and motivational...10

There was a slight ripple over the blue water yesterday morning. I tried to play on the word 'blue', which can also mean 'downhearted'. A brilliant analysis on your part.
