The Greatest Of These Poem by Tristan Maverick

The Greatest Of These

Rating: 5.0

this was a school project. i had to re-write a paper in any way i chose, so... i chose a poem. it's a bit long because of that, just a warning...

Whispers hiding
Stalking down the hall
Mockingly hiding
But wanting to be heard
Like parasites
You don't feel a thing
But it keeps sucking
Sucking the life out of you
Slowly draining you
Draining your life
Your soul
Your will to keep going

While some can shrug it off
Ignore it
They truly are strong
Able to resist the parasite

This parasite
This leech on life
Has fortunately weakened
Has unfortunately weakened
Has become stronger

hate
Such a strong word
Full of evil
Full of malice
Full of spite
Permeated with anger
No happiness comes from this
Though you laugh
You scoff at its meaning
It means nothing to you
It means nothing to them
The parasite may only have
As much strength as you give it
But this
This evil entity
This is the strongest
The one that kills
Not your body
Not your soul
Not your mind
For this is not its aim
Nor can it kill completely
For this is not its goal
This kills your heart
This kills a part of your heart
And whenever it beats
You feel it
The pang of pain
Of anger
Of spite
Of malice
Of evil
Of hate
You feel it
Ever constant
Ever consistent
Ever rhythmic
Mocking you with its song

This parasite
That drains life
It has died
Oh, it has died
But has become stronger for it

Just as some take
Some give
But give no more
For you have killed it
Killed it by your neglecting
Your ignoring it
It may not be dead
But it might as well be

Love may never have been
What sagas and legacies have depicted it as
Because it is so much more
More than anything words
Or actions can describe
It is feeling
The feeling that can destroy hate
Now it is consumed by it
Not only hate
But jealousy
Vanity
Greed
Arrogance
These things
Once feared Love's power
But now scoff
Now laugh at its weakness
Though they themselves have weakened
Nothing can compare to
The utter destruction of Love

It has become lost
Lost in the overwhelming darkness
Its once gleaming light
Illuminating all
Has become but a faint glow
A faint glow that now asks to be extinguished
Begging to be smothered
To end its misery
But:
'Love is patient,
Love is kind.
It does not envy,
It does not boast,
It is not proud.
It is not rude,
It is not self-seeking
It is not easily angered,
It keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil
But rejoices with the truth
Always perseveres...
And now these three remain:
Faith,
Hope,
And Love,
But the greatest of these is Love.'

Love should be what it was
A beacon in the dark
A beacon of hope
Hope that saves
A beacon of faith
Faith that hopes
A beacon of Love
Love that lifts
Raises us
Repairs the broken heart
The broken heart that hate has wrought
Though Love can break the heart
Love breaks it because of it
hate destroys it
hate destroys it in spite of it

Now these two remain:
hate
And Love
Is the greatest of these
Still Love?

LOVE IS NOT A BUILDING THAT CAN BE TORN DOWN IT IS A FOUNDATION WELL BELOW THE GROUND. LOVE WILL ALWAYS RISE LIKE A BIRD IN FLIGHT SEEKING OUT INJUSTICES AND MAKING EVERYTHING RIGHT. 10 10 10 10

Yes, infinitely so. It is The Eternal whose love fills our heart, filled or empty, whole or broken and the Eternal's love only hides behind yourself when you're not looking. You have right understanding. Just Believe and disregard the rest.
