The History Shall Mourn (In Vain) Poem by Naseer Ahmed Nasir

The History Shall Mourn (In Vain)

Had you said goodbye to me
standing in the balcony
Waving in the air
with twinkle in your eyes
I would have become
the angel of death for the enemy
One single nod from you
would have made me pile them up
dead, in front of you
You would have seen me in a flash
crossing the frontiers of the centuries
My deadly gambits from everywhere
would have transformed the history,
of love and warfare
I was the bravest of them all
A single drop of tears shed for me
would have said it all
But, seeing you bemoan
has made me so forlorn
that I may not win this time
and may never return, alive!
