The Hunt - Poem by Ciara Owens

Standing in the darkness
Eyes glowing intensly
Slowly lifting each paw
Careful not to make a sound
Ears flicking in the cold storm
Listening for a reason to run
Muzzle lifting into a snarl
A light growl dances through the air
Lifting heads, sniffing the air
Hearts beating faster and faster
Branches cracking, steping closer
A loud bark followed by a flash of fur
Ending in blood stained snow
