The Impression Of Your Eyes Poem by Gert Strydom

The Impression Of Your Eyes

(for Annelize)

When I saw you and we left each other
there had been that sunshine-look, the colour of your eyes,
and your beauty has on me the ability
to leave impressions on my soul
and apart from what you say
I cannot be unmoved near to you,
even if I feel modest,
love twists golden wires like brocade,
binds to the surface of my heart,
your eyes remind me of the pure light
and their colour is not near to blue,
do remain in the days of joy and sorrow;
these moments are always deep
and something to which for years I do hold on.
