If I should ever love again
Or give my heart away
Or hold another close to me
Or melt from what they say
If I should ever show my hand
Before the game gets going
Or offer all I have to give
When warning signs are showing
If I should ever let my love
Be compromised again
Or keep a tie that's much too frail
With undeserving men
I'll gaze into the mirror
Until the cobwebs scatter
Till common sense projects to me
The notion that I matter
I then will freely love again
When life has shown to me
A tenderness and deep respect
A gentle setting-free
Until then I am not alone
Because inside of me
Resides the kindness of my heart
To which I hold
THE KEY
