The Ladder Of Life Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

The Ladder Of Life

Rating: 5.0

Climbing the ladder of life
You start at the base inquisitively
First you are protectively carried
Gaining balance you proceed affirmatively

Alternating left then right
With an upward pull… accelerating
Occasionally pausing on a steady assent
Continuing an identity search…escalating

Attaining greater height, no longer in between
You are now responsible and have security
Passing the halfway point, changing scenes
Many below look to you because of your maturity

Obligations are begging while aches aggravate
Your pace begins to slow as you look around
Challenges are meet and the years accumulate
Some dear friends have fallen to the ground

The final rung is getting nearer, but is yet unseen
While the air gets thinner you inhale thankfully
Today you are happy to make it through the routine
Small accomplishments are big events quite frankly
