The Last Thing Poem by keith brown

The Last Thing

Rating: 4.0

The Last thing I need right now.
Is a lecture, Telling me how
If I quit drinking
We could buy a new
plough.
Dirts too hard for pick or a blade
whiskeys drunk
Any money We saved!
Dirts as dry as a hung over mouth
Dreams, desires
all gone south
I'll light up tonight, like old Broadway
couple of beers, A bottle of whisky

Moneys tight, the kids need shoes
Most of it gone on bottles of booze
the last thing I need right now
is a lecture on why
I should put the lid on the bottle,
Hang myself out to dry
Pride goes before a fall, so that say
Once you've driven the people you love away
the last thing I need right now is a lecture on when
Your taking the kids and leaving again

Cause the dirts as dry as a hung over mouth
Dreams , desires
all gone south
I'll light up tonight like old Broadway
couple of beers, A bottle of whiskey

'Moneys tight, the kids need shoes Most of it gone on bottles of booze' - A common, pathetic scene when booze overtakes bread as a preference!
