Is war the only game that nations best know to play
as if it is a game of football
and wars today are like a football league?
Is war the only hand that one country chooses
to clasp and to hold the hand of another country
to encourage or defend its honor and position?
Is war the only reason and cause they see
so as to supply arms and ammunition to each other
without even considering how many homes
and lives will be lost due to their ruthless decisions?
Is war the only criteria that countries rush to
extend their support and sympathy to the country
that is under attack and they are so unmindful of
all the harm and destruction
that wars create to human life?
Is war the only motto and ego that one nation
joins another nation and pledges its solidarity
so that they can help the weaker nation
to maintain its superiority and power?
Is war the only face that has no eyes to see
the deaths and injuries that people suffer
which keep escalating day by night and night by day?
Is war such a big necessity that it is fought to
even out the score and make one nation feel
more powerful in vengeance and magnificence?
Is war not the cause of hunger and starvation
which innocent children have to confront
though they have done no harm to anyone
in their days of childhood and simple mischief?
Is war not the act of inhumanity
where thousands of lives are lost
and hundreds of families get separated
as they flee to safety in panic?
Is war not the siren that keeps ringing in the ears
that as buildings and apartments kept falling
like match boxes on fire and voices got stifled
under the debris and concrete walls and pillars?
Is war not that man-made phenomena that occurs
taking so many homes beneath the ground
without any earthquake but with bombs and explosions?
Is war not that merciless act that sends people rushing
away from their homes without any belongings
and making them so helpless and roofless?
Is war so ethical that countries rope in their solidarity
and confront the enemy nation to accelerate victory
and enforce vengeance so that those nations
who have no strength of arms and ammunition
can still fight and keep the war going?
Is war worth the manifestation of hate and violence
that keeps spreading like a wildfire
without any gains but offers only pain and homelessness
which will last in the veins of the future generations forever?
Is war worth the vision it creates
when eyes long for peace and silence
but all that is visible is broken buildings and houses
as people ran to safety?
Is war worth the tears and the wailing of the prisoners
when without any justification they got harassed
and punished in those cells of confinement?
Is war worth those words that have been read and spoken, written and signed up by world leaders
with promises to maintain peace and unity
yet their minds kept forgetting the repercussions of wars?
Is war worth those many deaths whereby
many orphans and many widows get created,
many brothers and sisters get shot and injured
many daughters and sons perished in bomb explosions
without any chances to survive or reveal their identity
yet the memories of war remain so fresh
in those hearts of grief and in those books of history.
