The Long Walk In Poem by Tailor Bell

The Long Walk In

Rating: 5.0

It is again, the line of rulers, emporers
The long walk of brave little men
Passing in silence
As they guide themselves in
To home and to mother
Under the prime blue sky
Where spirit discards law and defies matter
Not a moment too soon
They have begun
Feel them walking
Across arms spread wide
Over back and spine
Determined to step forward not side by side
But one after another
To home and to mother
Where all were born
Brave perfect and honorable men
Against death's utter best they go
Breath crinkling out of the atmosphere
The corners of eyes cracking
Lips chapping breaking apart lies snapping
Against this you evaporate, you cease
While day vanishes in reverse
Yet, here they are unfaded
Huddled perfectly pure
Standing dutifully brother to brother in nowhere
All pretenders filtered out
As if it were not real
As if it were not home
As if we were not clean blue sky

Wonderful imagery, and beautifully written, Tailor. A fine piece of work, and powerful words softly spoken. This is both tender, and bold at the same time - brilliant! Linda

Tailor, this is a lyrical lament for all those 'brave little men' who have met an early death over the centuries and who are taking the long walk 'where spirit discards law and defies matter' home to mother, to hearth to where they belong. It is a finely crafted piece written in sepia tones with strength and compassion. Definitely a man's poem. love, Allie xxxx

As always the poetry is terrific from end to end. Your use of the language is so precise and distinctively 'you' at the same time. The storytelling is stunning. Captures this ritualistic process to perfection. Genuinely brilliant! ! I was on planet headache for a wee while I must admit! ! jim

I enjoyed this one a lot Tailor especially the little men (think I know what this one's about) . You merge the subjects very nicely with a thoughtful reflection at the end. *Cal*
