The Lowest Of Standards - Poem by Eric Birdsall

Lights flash,
I catch a glimpse of your face,
A smile,
A fake,
A lifetime filled with mistakes,
You fall for your own tricks,
But how could you not,
You know what you’ve done,
You know how far you’ll go,
Go ahead, prove that point,
Make me notice,
See if I care,
But in twenty years,
We’ll meet again,
You’ll be watching a rundown woman,
With no where to go,
With no one to love,
That woman, stars only in your mirror,
For you have become, the one you can’t stand,
The one you hate.
