The Maddening Sadness Poem by Elisabeth Wingle

The Maddening Sadness

Rating: 4.3

I won't give in to the sadness,
Into the madness of my life.
I am filled with the sorrow,
Of no more tomorrows,
Living as man and wife.
The life I am living,
Is much more forgiving.
It doesn't weigh me down.
I feel as light as a feather,
Yet still on a tether.
Held by those, who would
Keep me aground.

The life I am living, Is much more forgiving. It doesn't weigh me down. [i came back] in the above lines, it sounds to me as though marriage for you was a mixed blessing**. ** mixed blessing: mixed bless·ing ˈˌmiks(t) ˈˌblesiNG/ noun noun: mixed blessing; plural noun: mixed blessings a situation or thing that has disadvantages as well as advantages. having children so early in their marriage was a mixed blessing - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - though you are sad that your husband died, it (his death) has its positive side. am i close or way off? ? no need to answer unless you want to. bri :)
