The Men From Jewvius Poem by Jonathan Goldman a.k.a JGthepoet

The Men From Jewvius

It happened last Shabbos,
That they came to visit our Shul,
Those men from the Planet Jewvius,
They did break the Shabbat Rules.

For they did land their Spacecraft
In the Kingsbury Shul Car Park,
To come to Shul to daven ~
Why did they not wait for dark?

They alighted from their Spacecraft,
Dressed in Suits and Ties like us,
In time to hear the Layening,
Their Entrance caused a fuss.

‘Twas in the year Two Thousand and Seven,
On the Fifth of May,
That these men arrived to join us,
On the Shabbat Day.

We asked them where they'd come from?
And why to US they'd come?
Our questions caused them some surprise,
As they looked the same as us.

They'd journeyed in a Spacecraft,
In the shape of the Beth Hamikdash,
Propelled to Earth on Angels' Wings,
Till they did hit Earth's dust.

Where was this Planet Jewvius?
And why to Kingsbury did they come?
They answered us quite quickly,
As they did speak our Tongue.

They had travelled to us,
For more than one hundred billion Light Years,
To find other Jewish Communities,
And to allay their fears.

For they believed that G-D ~
Who Ruled from up above,
Was continually creating Planets,
And giving the People HIS Love.

For G-D when He'd Created,
Saw that HIS Work was good,
And continued to do HIS Work,
As they believed HE would.

So when their Leader Moses,
~ Yes ~ that was his Name,
Was told to build a Spaceship,
Who could we ~ for their entrance ~ blame?

They were told to build it,
Without big fuel tanks,
But to equip it with a Shul,
And to G-D forever give Thanks.

For whilst they were a-praying,
And having Faith in HIM,
Angels would carry the Craft
To a destination more free from sin.

When they had alighted,
And found it was the Shabbat Day,
To a Community in North London Town,
In 2007 ~ In May.

They told us of their History,
And it was the same as Ours,
Save that their Planet was full of Jews,
With less Rain and full of Trees and Flowers.

After they had had Kiddush,
And taken their leave of us,
To travel more to other Worlds,
By continually in G-D having Trust.

We should not believe the Comics,
Of how Aliens should look,
For G-D is continually working,
Creating Planets and People like us.

For we were made in HIS Image,
So we are taught to believe,
And there must be Planets elsewhere,
Where Human Beings are conceived.

I believe that this is the longest work that I have read from you. Very interesting indeed. Yes, let us put away thoughts of green men from Mars, and picture those like us from planets far far away.
