The Most Wonderful Name Of Jesus! Poem by Denis Martindale

The Most Wonderful Name Of Jesus!

Christ spoke about His Father's love and taught His friends to pray,
Christ spoke of Heaven's Throne above and of God's Judgement Day.
Christ didn't judge when men went mad and planned to kill God's Son!
Christ didn't come to make men sad despite the sins they've done!

That day when Christ got crucified, He prayed God would forgive,
'They know not what they do! ' He cried! He died so they could live.
Eternal life God grants through Christ! Jesus, the risen Lord!
No wonder that I'm still surprised and somewhat overawed!

This man, once beaten, whipped and nailed, had died on Calvary,
So I could see God's truths unveiled when Jesus died for me!
To think, His Name's still greatly praised, two thousand years since then,
This Man of God, the Son God raised, in ways beyond our ken.

Until Christ comes to wed His bride, Christ's blessings overflow,
God's Royal Pardon to provide, with healings to bestow!
By faith, we pray, as each one claims forgiveness to receive!
Yes, Jesus is the name of names, once sinners first believe!

I sing many of my Gospel poems to the tunes
of common-metre hymn tunes. That is why
my poem reminded me of the Easter hymn,
There Is A Green Hill Far Away.

Revelation TV's The Melting Pot programme
shared the poem on the 13th of June 2024.
