The Mystic Forest Poem by Khaleeq Ahmad

The Mystic Forest

*The Mystic Forest*
(This is the year A.D.2120)

What place is this!
So mystic yet so majestic!
What are these tall figures, brown with green foliage!
What are these small creatures, chirruping so noisily yet so melodiously, flying freely!
These rivulets, these big stones, these small colourful creatures leaping and flashing on four legs!

Why the air is so cool here?
How can I breathe without my oxygen mask here?

In my city, around the steel structured buildings, I never felt such mystical yetrejuvenatingaura.

Why the atmosphere is so calm here? Why everything is so soothing here?
Why there is no machine here?
No flying cars, no smart phones, no buildings here, no iron, steel and cement;

In my life I haven't seen such things, such creatures, such an esoteric place!

Oh! I remember now,
My teacher told me once,
Showed me the photos even.
This is.. yup, this seems to be a forest, existed some hundred years ago, somewhere in India.
