The New History Like A Triumphant General Poem by Kinsley Lee

The New History Like A Triumphant General

Eun-Sang Lee

For the price of betraying
The great truth of love,
Asian world and the nation
Writhing themselves in pain of blistery,
The brink of
The cliff destruction,
You must stop and wait a new history.

What form will come
Our new history between the crack?
It will not come
Like a pleasure boat sailing with the wind at its back.
It will come
Covered in wounds,
Without a single unmarred part of face and body.

Our new history,
Though covered in wounds, at triumph but returning.
Will stand before us like a this tree,
From a reversal as a triumphant general returning.
On that day,
We will stand with him,
We will surely stand with him.
