The Night The Sun Rose In The Sky Poem by Bhavyakeerti Bohrey

The Night The Sun Rose In The Sky

The night the sun rose in the sky
The darkness seemed to wither
When he took his sister's place at high
And made even the dark glitter

Some tried to hide behind the ones
That were said to be more shady
Some came out in light with their swords
And thought they were all ready

But the flame in the sky just smiled down
When the barrels were aimed at him
For he was not the danger over
It was the light that was glowing dim

Not in the sky, not in the sea
The mortals could not perceive it
Until one looked inside and found
The glow that was in his heart lit

The word spread fast to the oblivious
And soon a grand army stood
Lit with power against the dark
And called itself the good

The fight went on for much too long
For the dark were greater in number
But the good, with the light inside them bright
Were as powerful and mighty as thunder

After a long clash of the sides
The dark began to fade
As its power began to come to an end
And it had to drop its blade

A roar of victory, oh what joy!
The celebrations had just begun
When the sun just smiled and went on his way
Knowing his work here was done.

light and darkness.. the sun and the moon.. since the beginning of human culture have been at the core of myths and legends.. they are at the very heart of literature

The concept of light and darkness has always fascinated me. Though sometimes when alone in darkness, I wonder how something so peaceful and soothing could be used to symbolize evil. While I love the light and the knowing and confident feeling it gives me, I can't help but be fascinated by the natural beauty of the dark and how it never fails to sooth the mind and body and keep a person curious at the same time :) Both of these are nature's basic aspects and can't exist without each other. Both are equally beautiful in their own ways.
