The Now Is Today Poem by Francis Duggan

The Now Is Today

A male robin is singing on a leafy silver birch tree
And Nature at her finest is all around me
The sun shining warm in a sky blue and gray
And the hawthorns look resplendent in their white blossoms of May

Of such natural beauty a poet of would feel happy to write
That lovers of Nature poetry would feel happy to read and recite
The migratory dark swallows chirping as they fly
On pursuit of flying insects in the sunny Spring sky

The old fields resplendent in their Nature's flowers
That had come to full bloom in the mild grass growing showers
Such beautiful weather even for the time of year
Towards the end of Spring with Summer quite near

Despite many years of absence the memories stay
Of May by the mountains from here far away
But time does tick on and hair turns to gray
And the now is all that does matter and the now is today.
