The Old Hymns Poem by Phillip Nine Mafunga

The Old Hymns

Oh! How sweet're the old hymns
Salvation n'the Cross're the themes
Oh! How I love the old psalms
For they speak of my name in His eternal palms

Oh! Love, out of the miry clay, brought me up
Love, on eternal pedestal, set me up
My soul to never dump
Under no burden of sin to never slump

Oh! Yes, you can call my faith old school
But never am I an old fool
For of His love am full
Oh! How sweet is His mercy which endures for ever
