The Orphan Poem by Ahvana Dutt

The Orphan

Rating: 4.8

A look of sadness on his face
He walks on the bare snow, down the street
Shivering away in the cold
With a pair of dirty, filthy feet

People are cruel and Oh! so rude
Rich children never think
Of giving him even a bit of food
Poor boy, a day got only a bottle of water to drink

Not even stale bread he has
To fill his stomach
His clothes, no he has none
To get such a terrible life, I wonder what he's done

The compassion in this poem is touching, as touching as the plight of the orphan. Thanks for this one.
