I’ve written many poems
Following the variously scattered and tattered
Paths of my life and thoughts.
I’ve tried to chronicle
Hopeful afternoon smiles
And lonely midnight tears;
I’ve tried to confront lingering ghosts
And banish fears.
I’ve written of childhood friends
And reciting prayers for little cats;
I’ve put together words
From conversations I’ve heard
About love affairs and simple cares
Like the current price for apples.
I’ve tried to find phrases
That instill bakery smells
And the joy of a summery day.
But if I could refine my skills
To describe more precisely
The fleeting moment of delicate beauty,
If I was immensely a greater poet,
I would write of nothing more
Than once having seen your hair
In the most exquisitely adorable ponytail
That has ever existed,
And everybody would call me
The ponytail poet.
Very beautiful and poignant. I agree with Mary. You are a wonderful poet. As always, Sandra
Was her ponytail blonde or brunette Uriah, I used to have a brunette one many, many years ago, but you would never know now! ! ! Ha! I remember having it cut off at the age of fifteen, when I got my first job, and trying to be more grown-up. A very sad occasion in a way for me, but it had to be done. I enjoyed reading this piece, very well put together. Love and hugs Ernestine XXX
Uriah...Most definitely a stunning sample of a true artisan at work.This poem is mellifluous and captive...The storyline, inventive & unsuspecting...Solid Penning, my friend... F. j. R.
This cluster of profound thoughts, sprinkled with One Cup of frivolous levity is a tasty morsel for any poetic taste bud. Great work! Deanna xx
Dear Ponytail Poet, Romantic elegant and always humble - you share your youthful muse in this beautiful poem - and lots more besides. love, Allie xxxxxxxxxxxx
