The Potter And The Vessel Poem by Walterrean Salley

The Potter And The Vessel

Rating: 5.0

The Potter made a vessel,
Fashioned to His will;
But the vessel that He made
Was imperfect and unskilled.

The Potter was displeased
And sorely discontented,
So He took the marred vessel
And began tom break and rend.

He approached His turning wheel
With fragmented clay,
And began to shape and mold it
A completely different way.

The beauty that emerged
When the second work was through—
Was a gracious, flawless vase
That had now come to view.

The Potter beheld His work,
And saw that it was good,
Perfect, and flawless—
Just the way it should.

Then He smiled to Himself
(A delightful sigh He gave) .
Thus was He well pleased
With the vessel He had made.
