The Pride Of Morecambe Town Poem by George Bernard Hough

The Pride Of Morecambe Town

MORECAMBE`S PRIDE

Some people in this world of ours
can`t see the birds or trees or flowers.
For a moment take a pause
to think about a worthy cause,
related to this strong enui
is the one with initials r.n.i.b.

Most homes hold a family life
husband children loving wife,
every day a carefree ride
happily at each others side.
Other families may be blighted
by members who are partially sighted.

Some, the more serious kind,
members are completely blind.
By raising funds in many ways
to give these families happy days,
donors from all walks of life
try to help them in their strife.

One such man from morecambe came
brave keith ainsworth was his name,
who with his partner sooty bear
showed the world that they did care.
Though in a hospice he resided
his thoughts were always single sided.

Raising funds for this worthy cause
signed and sealed by sootys paws,
on raising half a million pounds
was invited to buck palace grounds,
meeting royals so well deserved.
A charity grateful and well served.
