The Protector Poem by Palitha Ranatunge

The Protector

With eyes looking down at the altar
She prays for a harmless day in work
Protection from the law
Protection from her clients
Protection from her competitors
Protection from all viruses,

The mighty Goddess, with
Fierce but kind eyes, devoted
For all women in the world
Especially ones to be protected
From the evils of civilization
Given her the hope for the day,

She taken out a pocket mirror
Checking the parts of her
Beautiful but decaying face
Carefully stepped in to the
Populous city to earn her living
With the given full confident
By the powerful goddess.
