The Quiet World By Jeffrey Mcdaniel In Hindi/Urdu Translation

taa k log ek doosray ko zyaada dekhain
aur goongay log khush rahain
sarkar ne ilaan kiya hai
k har vyakti ko sirf
ek so staasath lafs har din
bolnay ki ijaazat hai.

jab phone ki cghanti baji
main ne kaan pe laga liya
chup chaap raha, hello nahin kaha.
restaurant main chicken soup ka order nahin diya
sirf is ki taraf ishaara hi kar diya.
main is asliyat ka ab kaafi jaan kaar hoon.

raat ko dair main, main ne apni mehboooba ko
phone kartay kehta hoon: aaj main ne
unsuth hi bolay hain, baaki sub tere liyay hain.

jab vo jawaab nahin deti
samaj jaata hoon bol chuki hai vo aaj sub lafz,
to main dheeray se kehta hoon:
tumain pyaar karta hoon
batees aur ek batta teen baar.
fir hum, phone haath pakDay huay
baithaiy rahatay hain raat bhar
aur suntay rehtay hain
ek doosray k saans phone par.

The Quiet World
BY JEFFREY MCDANIEL

In an effort to get people to look
into each other's eyes more,
and also to appease the mutes,
the government has decided
to allot each person exactly one hundred
and sixty-seven words, per day.

When the phone rings, I put it to my ear
without saying hello. In the restaurant
I point at chicken noodle soup.
I am adjusting well to the new way.

Late at night, I call my long distance lover,
proudly say I only used fifty-nine today.
I saved the rest for you.

When she doesn't respond,
I know she's used up all her words,
so I slowly whisper I love you
thirty-two and a third times.
After that, we just sit on the line
and listen to each other breathe.
