The Reason We Search For Love Poem by Lenore Lee

The Reason We Search For Love

In the beginning everyone had:
Two heads,
Two hearts,
Two personalities
And eight limbs

But these two personalities did fight
Even though they knew it wasn’t right
They loved each other more than themselves
But in anger they placed that love on shelves

One day one side said to the other
I am sick of you, I want another
And their shared body ripped in two
They found another like they said they’d do

The ones they found ripped as well
So their true love also fell
Soon no one was their full self
And they felt as small as an elf

Everyone spread all over the world
They searched for their guys and girls
All wanted to apologise to their half
So they went directionless down their path

That is why we search for true love
For the one that makes us as pure as a dove
That person we had foolishly made part
Is the one that owns our other heart
