The Sage By Njoyim Elisha Poem by Njoyim Elisha

The Sage By Njoyim Elisha

The Sage

Adam, let Eve be,
Come and Lie with me
And make the Future free.
No woman was
There to utter things as
Sweet as these to save
Us from the primal iniquity.

If the Hittite was not deprived
Of his treasure,
The word of God would have
Been starved of wisdom.
In wisdom, the sage chose
Many to accompany his life.

One way we go when with
One companion we
Choose to ride. Many companions
Make a journey bright.
