The Sea Of My Regret Poem by Seamus O' Brian

The Sea Of My Regret

Rating: 5.0

I stand at the edge
of the sea of my regret
and wave after wave
crashes at my feet
and I hear your name
in every one.

I stand at the edge
of the ocean of all
my mistakes and I
call your name into
the waves and the wind
and the sky above
but the clouds are not moved
the waves do not cease
and the wind carries
the sound of only one heartbeat,
and it is not yours.

I stand at the edge
of the sea of loneliness
The waves swirl around
my knees and I plunge forward
but I know that there is only
one shore to this ocean
and I have left it behind me.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
In the silence of the ocean, you cannot hear the answer to your questions. The fear that you have hurt someone cannot be assuaged in the silence of the sea...

A lovely depiction of love and loss through the metaphor of sea that is vast enough to drown our entire being and the waves that rise n fall just as human life does. A big 10.

There is so much art, even in your replies, my dear Nosheen. Thank you for reading, and as always for your gracious and thoughtful comments. :)
