The Seven Deadly Sins Poem by Randy McClave

The Seven Deadly Sins

The Devil had his unfathomed dignity
When he stood at God's mighty side,
He thought of his own importance over all
Then, there was first born pride.
Jesus told man to always help each other
Especially in their times of poverty and need,
But, some desired wealth and possessions while others suffered
Then, there was born greed.
Some men hunger with a sexual appetite
Believing an illicit sexual power is a absolute must,
When David spied on Bathsheba on the rooftop bathing
Then, there was born lust.
Some men hate other men successes
With a feeling of discontent or covetousness with no glee,
Joseph's brothers hated him because of his dreams and words
Then, there was born envy.
To some men God is just an immense appetite
They would rather have food and not people as their company,
They are always gorging themselves with wine and meat"
There, was then born gluttony.
Some men are imbedded with an anger
With the resentful indignation's of a sociopath,
Cain killed Able, the consequences of vengeance
Then, there was first born wrath.
The Bible says that a slack hand causes poverty
But, the hand of the diligent shows great growth,
Many have a habitual disinclination to exertion, laziness
Then there was born sloth.
We must not forget our Christian teachings
Especially if or when immorality in a man begins,
Behaviors has been numbered and classified
They are known as, The Seven Deadly Sins.
