The Sickness Poem by Palitha Ranatunge

The Sickness

Nay, I never wanted it
From you in return of
What I offered, I being
A dumb and failed
I loved you but no
Return, I loved the love
For the sake of loving,

I wanted to love
And not to be loved
If you say you are in love
Madly with me, definitely
I would leave you
For, I am desperate
And mentally ill,

I am like a serial killer
Who cannot live without
Killing
I am like a thief
Who can not live without
Stealing
I am like an alcoholic
Who can not live without
Drinking,

I am addicted to love
I am addicted to perfection
I am addicted to honesty
I am addcited to sacrifice,

I wanted myself to be burnt
Within the fire of love
And suffer,
Hence never worry
About the destiny of mine
Never take it as a burden
Just pass by ignoring me,

Yes, Just pass by ignoring me
Thinking I am an unattended
Accident victim,
Laid at road side of a busy town
Until the undertaker comes
My love, Ye never endure
A least worry!
