The Son's Weapon Poem by Randy McClave

The Son's Weapon

I would rather carry my son
Than I would ever carry a gun,
I would rather give and teach him the Bible
Instead of teaching him to care for and use a rifle.
I would rather see my son help and heal
Than to hear or see him shoot and murder or kill,
I would rather see him have faith in the lord
Than having faith in the rifle, gun or sword.
I am glad that my son isn't afraid of a stranger
And in them he doesn't look or seek out danger,
And I am glad that my son never seeks or provokes a fight
Even when he is right.
I wish my other children were just like him
Seeking peace and not hate, revenge or bedlim,
Where they believe they can take the law in their own hand
For that, I cannot stand.
Into my house if you or my son ever does enter
You are welcomed, and I will then be your mentor,
But, no guns, rifles, racism or bigotry is ever allowed
And unto me and not them will you have bowed.
Building's and property's can be repaired and replaced
Even after being destroyed and turned into waste,
But, after only just one shot
A human life, cannot.
I am glad that my son doesn't need a weapon
Even when he saw danger and knows that harm does beacon,
I am glad that my son puts his faith in me
I'm the Father, the Holy Spirit and the Son, all three..
