The Soul That Sings Poem by Daisy Pereira

The Soul That Sings

Spell my name gently
as I spell yours
as breeze on cedar leaves
winged souls
morning dreams
lingering on roses
spell my name as I spell yours

night shivering on lilies
enshrined on your love
most becoming of a queen
wind murmurs on the white spring
falling autumn leaves
scattered memories

winter waits for summer
summer for rains
scalding sun loves
your honeyed skin
it kisses, it singes
deep tattoos on your heart
severs, conjoins, put together
threshed and scattered again
wary, weary, somnambulist moon
yet still the soul sings.

So spell my name
as I spell thine
a cross upon a cross
darkness fused,
owl hours before the dawn
people in the graves know well
their measure on this earth.
