The Source Of My Name Poem by Cigeng Zhang

The Source Of My Name

Rating: 4.5

A remote park
I've been there one hundred times
A bleak lake
runs with the solar path and lunar track
"Your name is associated with this place", I was told
"The returned light, echo of the flow, sign of the second life"…
Indeed, there is something hidden in my name
All looks in the hue of coffee or suntan
like the wings of the wild swan - -
or the ripe grain in the late autumn barn
I slowly walk along the lake in the park
Meditating on the plot of my given name …

Mysterious and insightful! Another good write...I sense the natural flow of your theme in all your poems and this brings it out so easily, the zen is there...

Name is Identity, yes it is but there are so many other ways of verifying identity, if you can't find your name, don't worry, there will be another way. (That's the practical approach. Here's the difference) .My name precedes me. It is not just my identity, it belongs also to those who came before me, it signifies the context of my life - which is F-A-M-I-L-Y, which is the everlasting part of my identity. Which is... (I think I made my point which is something far richer and more important than just a familiar sound that means ME - Your poem did this to me, it made me think deeply, and go further....)

Name is identity. So true. Some name is a sign; some is a fable. Thanks to my father, he gave me a name in meanings of both identity and fable. Thanks for your nice comment as usual. Much appreciated.
