The Spider Poem by Raymond Farrell

The Spider

Rating: 5.0

It was only yesterday
I swept that cobweb
Out of the corner
Now back, today's
Has each strand in its place
No less trustworthy than yesterday's
It hangs arched in space
Silent, motionless, perfectly engineered
To entrap and hold its prey
Once caught nothing gets away.

The spider seems to have disappeared
But were the web to shake
His predatorial senses would awake
Be there a fly to see
He'd descend with venomous glee
Inject his poison then wait
For the inevitable fate.

The spider seems to have disappeared But were the web to shake His predatorial senses would awake Be there a fly to see Nicely written, a true painting of the spider and its web.
