THE STORY OF MY PEOPLE Poem by Hugo Jamioy Juagibioy

THE STORY OF MY PEOPLE

The story of my people
has the clean steps of my grandfather
he goes on to his own rhythm;

this is another story
it rushes on
with borrowed shoes
it walks on writing with its feet
without its head on the side,
and in that aimless torrent
they're carrying me away;

I only would like to see myself
once more in your eyes grandfather;

to embrace your face with my eyes
to read the lines
that time left passing by
to write with my feet
just a full stop
in this story of my life.
