The Sunshine Monster Poem by Ellie Sutton

The Sunshine Monster

Rating: 5.0

When the sun peeps through the curtains
And the kids come out to play,
You'll find me in my bedroom
So the monster stays away.

He follows right behind me
When I'm walking down the street,
And if I try to shake him
He gets tangled in my feet.

He follows when i tip-toe,
He's chase me if I fled,
I'm pretty sure he'd be there
If I stood upon my head!

Ah! Who's there, who is it?
Who's knocking on my door?
Oh, mom, you should know better,
He could be on the landing floor!

He's not your average monster
'Cause in the dark of night
He'll vanish into thin air!
And come back for morning light.

And if the sun gets dimmer,
He's rather hard to see.
Yet when the summer comes to town
He's black as black can be!

I must admit, 'round lunchtime,
He's actually quite small.
But when the sunset rolls around
He shoots to ten feet tall!

So,
When the light lashes the curtains
And the kids play in the sun,
You'll find me hiding in my bedroom
'Cause the Sunshine Monster's come!
